OCTOBER 1988
Joseph K. Collins founds Collins Building Services, Inc.
1989
Collins secures five building contracts within its first year of business.
1990
Durst Corporation hires CBS. The firm doubles in size.
1991
CBS wins bids for 1285 Avenue of the Americas and Equitable Center at 787 Seventh Avenue.
1992-1994
Bankers Trust awards three buildings. CBS now servicing 25 buildings city-wide.
1995
CBS secures two world headquarters contracts: Morgan Stanley at 1585 Broadway and Chase Bank at 270 Park Avenue.
1996-1997
Chase awards four more locations. CBS now serving 60 facilities across the City.
1998-1999
CBS expands to New Jersey with the addition of Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Madison and Teaneck campuses. Wins contracts for the Goldman Sachs headquarters in Lower Manhattan. Morgan Stanley hires CBS for 750 Seventh Avenue, a location serviced to this day.
2000-2002
111 Eighth Avenue is added to the CBS portfolio. TIAA CREF, Rudin Management and Rockefeller Group award contracts to CBS.
2003-2005
HSBC becomes a CBS client. CBS begins providing service for Hines at their 1 New York Plaza location.
2004-2005
CBS begins relationships with New York University, NYU Medical, and St. Peter’s University, three relationships which still continue.
2006-2007
CBRE awards 1166 Avenue of the Americas. Rudin adds two more buildings to the CBS roster and the firm wins the NY Times Building bid.
2008-2009
New York University awards additional assignments. The firm expands into retail malls with the Simon Property Group. Boston Properties enlists CBS for 540 Madison and its NY headquarters at 599 Lexington. 55 Water Street, NYC’s largest office building, also becomes a client.
2010-2011
CBS expands again with contracts at 1407 and 1460 Broadway, 1065 Avenue of the Americas, 400 Park Avenue and two prime Beth Israel Hospital facilities.
2012
CBS begins servicing five Tishman Speyer properties, including the Chrysler Building. The firm expands into arena and event cleaning by winning the prestigious new Barclays Center in Brooklyn as a client.
2013
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, the firm now has 100 million square feet under contract and is one of the largest building service firms in the Tri-State area. CBS expands its Morgan Stanley portfolio with three new buildings. 125 Broad Street, 119 West 40th Street and St. Francis College are also added to the CBS portfolio.
2014
CBS has renewed contracts with New York University, 1407 Broadway, 730 Third Avenue, and Morgan Stanley. Harborside Plaza 4a, NYU Polytechnic University, and Spotify have been added to the CBS portfolio.
2015
CBS starts off 2015 with the award of St. John’s University. Also awarded new contracts with 600 Lexington Avenue, Simon Malls, and Verizon. Renews contracts with 375 Pearl Street and 1407 Broadway. Senior VP George Lewis named 2015 Humanitarian by Covenant House NY.
2016
CBS is awarded the contracts for 7 Bryant Park and 830 Third Avenue; renews contracts with 28 Liberty Street, NYU Langone Health, 1285 Avenue of the Americas, Boston Properties, Ridgehill Mall and the Chrysler Building.
2017
CBS awarded contracts for 2 Gotham Center, LIC Jackson Park Apartments and the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum; renews contracts with 350 Marconi Street, 395 Hudson Street and 500 Park Avenue. Mack-Cali renews contract of existing locations and awards CBS an additional 38 sites across New Jersey, CBS’ largest single-contract takeover in their history.
2018
CBS celebrates 30 years of service.
